BMW is incorporating Android apps
In 2011 BMW formed liaisons with iPhones and was one of the first cars to integrate the phone’s apps. Finally in 2016 at the New York International Auto Show, the company publicized that it’s apps will support Android devices as well. For now it’s just one model in the 2016 BMW 7 series whose iDrive system will incorporate music apps including Spotify, Pandora and iHeartRadio.
However, this is the beginning and we can expect advanced Android features in future cars by BMW that will offer support with more and multiple apps. The Android users will have to get the BMW connected app in order to play music on their phones – via Bluetooth through the iDrive.
The general features of all three music apps remain same. For example, you can easily browse and access playlists from both paid and free accounts on Spotify. It is a smart move by BMW to choose these apps for a start as they are safest, asking for minimum concentration of the driver.
